this recipe is from james beard's "beard on bread" via sourdough home's intro to breadbaking pages. it is about the easiest yeasted bread you'll ever find, and oh so tasty. there is no kneading and no shaping. you can use your standmixer to stir/hydrate the dough, leave it in that bowl to rise, then use the mixer again to deflate it and mix in the baking soda, let it rise again in that bowl, then pour the very wet dough into an oiled bread pan and bake. the stickyness i guess helps the bread develop those nice holes & nooks & crannies. this is a bread that really must be toasted, and then just try to put too much butter on it. it's not possible :)

buuuuuuuuuuuuuutter... this bread demands lots of buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuttter... must have butter.. yum.
