CYA: Marian & Taylor, The Quintessential Muggles

they held their breath as marian flourished hermione's wand, but nothing happened.

marian blushed and handed the wand back to hermione. "i'm sorry. i...i just always wanted to try that."

"i understand," hermione reassured her. "it was a pretty good effort, really."

she turned and swished & flicked her wand with a sharp command of "evictus varmints!" there was a sudden eruption of POP! sounds as the garden gnomes vanished.

"you're amazing!" marian clapped her hands.

hermione attempted to look humble and almost succeeded. "no, i'm not that amazing. i'm just who i am--a witch. you should accept yourself for who you are and be the best muggle you can be, marian, and you'll be amazing, too!"

"um, thanks."

"look at this mess!" mrs. weasley walked out, purveying the damage, then walked over to taylor with a friendly smile. "are you okay, dear? yes?"

taylor nodded, and she waved her wand at him. "boo-boos schmoo-boos!"

taylor's limp, bruises, and scratches disappeared. "thank you, mrs. weasley."

"all right, then," mrs. weasley smiled at them. "it's time to eat!"

they followed her into the house and took turns washing up.

"so, my young muggle friends," mr. weasley said as they sat down to eat. "what can you tell me about microwave ovens, hmm? i'm certain there's magic involved, but i can't figure it out!"

it was a looooooong dinner.
