it was our friend's birthday and she came over and made spaghetti sauce. i made tyler florence's ultimate meatballs and italian bread from reinhart's BBA. this is a 2-day bread as it uses a biga pre-ferment. the resultant bread was really, really soft. it tasted very good (the malt syrup adds a little depth) and it looked good, though i didn't score the one loaf deeply enough. the recipe has instructions on how to make it crustier, and maybe i'll try that technique one day. luckily, there is leftover bread and leftover meatballs, so i'm thinking sandwich tomorrow :)

oooh...that sounds yummy...
sorry you guys couldn't make it for thai food...but it sounds like you had a lot of fun, too.
thai food??!!=(
yes, homecooked meatballs and bread definitely equals sandwich.
come to think of it, i've never had a meatball sub/sandwich (no, i'm not fishing, just commenting on it)...then again, that's probably because it seems like it would be really messy...and i've only (relatively) recently started appreciating the yumminess of meatballs - thanks to my roomie's mom.
messy it is indeed, saith food master yoda. Meatball sandwiches are especially good at ball games, where you stuff yourself silly and then have to smell like it for the next five hours.=) Unless you really mess up the meatballs (which is hard to do, face it, they're meatballs!), meatballs are in the Reliably Good category with hamburgers, meatloaf, steak, and philly cheese steak.
