Macerated Strawberries

(from a couple of nights ago)   there are some fruits that i enjoy more when they are used as an ingredient (i prefer apple pies to apples, and wine to grapes).  strawberries, though, i prefer on their own, or minimally treated.  that's what these strawberries are.  sliced and tossed with a little sugar, honey, and balsamic vinegar.  let it sit for a bit for the juices to loosen up, then tossed them again in the silky syrup that has now formed in the bottom of the bowl.  i could eat several bowlfuls of it.
